What is Padel Tennis?

Padel is a dynamic racket sport that combines elements of tennis and squash, played in doubles on an enclosed glass-and-mesh court. Just like in squash, you can play shots off the surrounding walls after the ball bounces, leading to exciting and unpredictable rallies. Because the court is compact and the technique is easy to pick up, padel requires no prior experience or lessons, making it instantly accessible and fun for players of all ages and skill levels.

Play Padel in Pertisau

In Pertisau, you will find two state-of-the-art padel courts just a few minutes’ walk from the Auszeit Boutique Hotel. The courts are open daily from 08:00 to 21:00 and can be booked exclusively online via the Achensee Experience Shop. The nearby padel house is fully equipped with free lockers, a bench with a coat rack, and an information board detailing everything you need to know. Our guests can borrow rackets and balls free of charge directly from us at Hotel Auszeit.

The most important padel rules

  • Padel is almost always played in doubles (2 vs. 2).
  • Every serve must be executed underhand (hit at or below hip height) and bounce diagonally into the opponent’s service box.
  • After bouncing in the opponent’s court, the ball may hit the glass wall or wire mesh walls and remain in play.
  • Scoring follows traditional tennis (15, 30, 40, game). A match is won by the first pair to take 6 games (with a two-game lead) and 2 sets.
  • The ball may only touch the ground of the opponent’s court once before hitting a wall, and players must avoid touching the net with their body or racket.
